Amma Satsang

"Satsang" is a Sanskrit word; 'Sat' means 'being' or 'truth' and 'Sang' means 'association'. Satsang together can be translated as "association with a self-realized soul". Satsang helps as an initial stage or foundation of one's Spirituality.

Today, we had Amma satsang for the first time at our home (see pictures below). It went well. It was an energetic satsang for us and for others too.

Below is a description of our Kansas City Satsang as explained my Melissa, a member of KC satsang:

Our monthly satsang is an opportunity for us to come together to enjoy the Grace of Amma through our social connection and our classical and yet simple spiritual practices. Our program starts with a video or audio clip of Amma’s teachings, followed by time-honored chanting of sacred names, singing or simply sitting in the presence of “soul stirring” songs or bhajans, hearing readings of Amma’s teachings, performing Arati, a beautiful ritual of purification to the Divine Mother, meditating and praying for peace in the exquisite energy and grace generated through the previous activities.

The wonderful vegetarian dinner that follows is informal and optional. It’s a time for relaxing and enjoying delicious food, and as always, traversing a wide range of topics.
